Balayya Refuses to Hike Pay
In this film industry, where superstars and medium range heroes, hiking their remunerations even after delivering a moderate hit is a common practice. However, seasoned star Nandamuri Balakrishna doesn’t believe in such unhealthy practice. He has delivered tremendous hits like ‘Akhanda’ and ‘Veera Simha Reddy’ but he hasn’t added more zeroes in his pay cheque.
“Balakrishna is just drawing Rs 20 crores for his upcoming film ‘Bhagavanth Kesari’ for the first time. Earlier, he was drawing anywhere between 15 to 17 crore per film because he doesn’t believe in jacking up his pay exorbitantly after blockbusters and fleece producers, unlike his colleagues,” says a source.
The scion of Nandamuri family has delivered one of the biggest hits in recent times ‘Akhanda’ which collected over Rs 85 crores and ‘Veera Simha Reddy’ which garnered Rs 60 crore plus to fetch producers, distributors and exhibitors good profits.
“Honestly, Akhanda’ collections remain untouched at many places, while ‘Veera Simha Reddy’ is the only film which gave Rs 25 crores profit to the producer in recent times. Despite such feats and many producers willing to pay him double the amount. He has refused it since he dislikes squeezing producers and wants them to make more films,” he adds.
Hope other heroes learn a lesson or two from Nandamuri Balakrishna to keep the industry in good stead.
