Rana Daggubati turns scientist
The film, which will be directed by Dhwanil Mehta, is based on the story penned by Yogesh Joshi.
After playing a naval commander in Ghazi — a story about the mysterious sinking of the PNS Ghazi submarine during the Indo-Pak war of 1971 — actor Rana Daggubati will now play a scientist who tries to decode the reason for the disappearance of the 1888 steamship, Vijli. The film, which will be directed by Dhwanil Mehta, is based on the story penned by Yogesh Joshi.
“Rana will play a scientist who works towards understanding why the steamship went missing. S.S. Vaitarna, which was also known as Vijli, had disappeared on its way to Mumbai from Mandvi, off the Saurashtra coast owing to a cyclone in 1888,” reveals a source adding that Rana okayed the film after being excited by the script.
Interestingly, the lost steamship had resulted in over 700 people missing, and is often dubbed as the Titanic of Gujarat, despite the Titanic sinking 24 years after Vijli! The period drama will also have a release in Telugu and Tamil.
