Cop roles beckon me: Nandita Swetha
After playing a cop in 'IPC 376', pretty actress Nandita Swetha is donning khakis again in her upcoming Telugu movie ‘Hidimbha’. She will also be seen as a police officer in another mystery thriller ‘Mangalavaram’. She doesn’t like the word comeback as she was around all the time shooting five films this year including two in Tamil. She is all set to explore OTT space with a web movie that would be another nail-biting stuff. She has been away from social media since she had limited resting time. She talks about her future plans in a chat with Deccan Chronicle.
How do feel about coming back to the Telugu audience with ‘Hidimbha’
Personally, I dislike the word comeback since I have been around working round-the-clock in three Telugu films and two Tamil movies like ‘Raktham. I adore Telugu audiences and I am doing another interesting IPS officer role in ‘Hidimbha’. In the murder mystery, me and Ashwin Babu together dig out the truth behind mysterious killings. Already, we have received positive buzz and hope that it works well at the box office.
We heard that you are playing a cop again in ‘Mangalavaram’?
It is true that I am getting many cop roles these days. Some say that I fit into a khaki uniform with ease and also I carry it with some respect. I am looking forward to ‘Mangalavaram’ since it is another path-breaking film from director Ajay Bhupathi. After scaring viewers with my varied ghost roles, I will be providing some relief to viewers with a comic touch in my next Telugu horror comedy “OMG’ (Oh my Ghost). I am glad to receive appreciation for my performances, but I’ll be doubly happy if my films mint gold at the box office.
You have not seen much OTT space like your colleagues?
Surprisingly, I haven’t got anything interesting for the OTT platforms but I have just signed a Telugu web movie that will grip the audiences. It is an author-backed role and I am looking forward to it. Meanwhile, I am hoping to get good roles on OTTs, otherwise, I am content doing Telugu and Tamil films since big screen experience has its own charm.
Why aren’t you active on social media these days?
I have been working for the last one and a half years even at night, leaving me tired in the daytime. I was away from my phone as well as social media since I had very limited resting time. Now, I could spare time for social media since I have begun to promote my films. In between, I refrained from making comments on social issues since I wasn’t keeping track of them for quite some time.
