She’s an actress who’s been finding several interesting opportunities and reaping rich benefits along the way. In her upcoming film, Akhanda, Pragya will be seen as an IAS officer, a role the actress asserts is a strong one.

“I am playing a bureaucrat for the first time; it’s surreal as I’ve never played such a role before. I can’t wait to show the audience how my role and the film have shaped up,” Pragya shares.

However, the actress hadn’t got a lot of time to prepare for the role, she adds. “I had to join the film sets as soon as I was roped in, so my prep time was very little, and my transformation into the character happened on the sets. So also, I thank the film’s director, Boyapati Srinu, for having guided me into doing the part effortlessly,” shares Pragya. “And I can’t wait to show the audience the efforts that have gone into my role.”

Despite the challenges she faced in executing her role, Pragya casually dismisses the idea that it’s challenging to get strong roles for women. “I think this is the best time for women to get great roles; content is getting innovative and revolutionary. Moreover, the audience is now exposed to world cinema and accepts new-age content. So with filmmakers writing interesting and quirky scripts, women are also getting opportunities to play different roles,” she explains.

For someone who debuted in 2014 with Kanche, Pragya could be seen as still taking baby steps in the industry. “Please remove two years because of COVID-19,” she quips. “But I am grateful for doing what I love the most, acting.”

But Pragya believes in taking things as they come. “There are no expectations with regard to learning curves. Learning has been a continuous process and every day on the set has brought new lessons, and I’ve been trying to make the most of it,” she adds.

In fact, the Nakshatram star believes that life in cinema has changed her a lot. “Showbiz life has been intellectually stimulating, making me happier and more grateful for all the opportunities that came my way,” she says on a parting note.
