Kaathal - The Core Faces Banned in Qatar and Kuwait
The highly anticipated release of Jeo Baby's "Kaathal - The Core," featuring Mammootty and Jyothika, is set for November 23. However, the film has encountered a setback in two Middle Eastern countries, Qatar and Kuwait, reportedly facing a ban due to its content.
Speculations suggest that Mammootty's portrayal of a homosexual character in the movie may have led to the ban, echoing a similar situation faced by Mohanlal's "Monster" in 2022. In that case, the ban was lifted in Bahrain after editing 13 minutes of LGBTQ content.
The fate of "Kaathal - The Core" remains uncertain as the Gulf censor board may re-evaluate the film, potentially requiring edits for a possible lift of the ban. The leaked synopsis from the International Film Festival of India hints at Mammootty playing George Devassy, a retired co-operative bank official facing political challenges due to his sexual orientation. The movie delves into the complexities of George's life as he decides to contest panchayat elections while dealing with marital issues with his wife, Omana (Jyothika).
