Salaar garners Rs 60 cr gross in Telugu states?

Riding on high expectations, action film ‘Salaar’ (Chapter 1: Ceasefire) starring Prabhas and Prithviraj has reportedly garnered Rs 60 crores gross collections in the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. “It has collected Rs 60 cr plus gross but net collections could be much lesser,” says a leading distributor and adds, “Even advance bookings for Saturday are quite good in Telugu states and craze for Prabhas is at his peak among Telugu viewers,” he adds.

With more than 600-theatres and 30 shows in many theatres helped the action adventure to mint more money. “Most of theatres had to run 28 to 30 shows and it reflected in big collections. For us, it is like 6 or 7th day collections ” he adds. The Andhra Pradesh government allowed a ticket hike for Rs 40 per head, while Telangana government permitted Rs 100 per ticket but collections in Andhra Pradesh and Ceded region superseded Telangana on the first day.

“Prabhas fans are in big numbers in East and West Godavari districts and even Krishna district and Vizag to give the film an edge over collections from Telangana,” he points out.

After not-so-impressive collections for ‘Radhe Shyam’ and ‘Adipurush," Prabahs regained his crowd pulling prowess with ‘Salaar’ but distributors are expecting a drop in collections from Monday. “The film has overcome Monday's test and then has to attract repeat audiences to turn into a blockbuster after registering sensational openings,” he concludes.
