Game Over plays it right
The makers of Game Over find the right people and platforms to rake in the moolah.
Actress Taapsee Pannu’s Game Over released last week in three languages, Telugu, Tamil and Hindi, and has already grossed nearly Rs 12 crore. One could say that the film, which doesn’t have any male leads, has been a winner also because of the marketing strategy. The makers S. Sashikanth and Chakravarthula Ramachandra had made the film with a Rs 7 crore budget and set aside nearly Rs 3 crore for its publicity.
While Ramachandra used his vast experience in Telugu films to get a wide publicity for this film in the Telugu states, they roped in Anurag Kashyap as the presenter for the release of the movie’s Hindi version. Apart from this, the duo sold the film to the satellite and digital channels. While Netflix bought the film for nearly Rs 7 crore, satellite rights for Telugu, Tamil were sold for Rs 5.5 crore. Their marketing strategy seems to have paid off, for the producers have pocketed profits of nearly Rs 10 crore with this film. Earlier too, they had used the same formula to market a small film they had done, titled Love Failure.
