Following films like C/o Kancharapalem, which highlighted a small place in Vizag, comes yet another film titled Palasa, named after a popular place located in Srikakulam district of Uttarandhra.
Helmed by Karuna Kumar, shooting of the film took place at Palasa for more than a month, and it is now set to release soon.
“If you look at your own town, you can find a story and also the local culture. While the Tamil and Hindi industries have made a few films with native backgrounds, the Telugu industry doesn’t seem to have any. Palasa is a small town that is very popular in Uttarandhra. While it has a 40-year-old history, we told the story in two and half hours,” says director Karuna Kumar, who adds that he completed the shoot in 40 days.
Rakshith and Nakshatra are the lead pair, while Tammareddy Bharadwaj is the producer.
“When the director came to me with this title and the story, initially I was not interested, but once he narrated it, I found it quite interesting. I even visited the place twice during the shoot, the film has come out really well,” says Tammareddy.
