After playing one of the leading roles in Chandamama Kathalu (2014), actress Amita Ranganath is back in Telugu as the female lead in the upcoming romantic entertainer, Amrutha Ramam, directed by Surender Kontaddi.

The recently released trailer reveals that the film is an intense love story. “The entire film was shot in Australia, and is narrated from a girl’s perspective. I am head over heels in love with my guy (played by Ram Mittakanti). It chronicles in gripping fashion all the experiences a couple goes through in a relationship — romance, arguments, sacrifice, split and patch up”, says Amita, adding that the film’s climax is something to watch out for.

Interestingly, at her audition, Amita was given the climax scene to enact. “It was one of the toughest episodes, and I knew that this film would be a challenging one because the role has several shades and emotions to express. But workshops before shooting and constant interaction with the director helped me pull it off,” explains Amita, who has also done a course in theatre.

“Acting has been my fascination since childhood. Although my parents were initially surprised, they later understood my passion for dramatics,” says Amita, who has also done handful of films in Kannada. “I am from Bengaluru, so once I got into theatre, I got the opportunity to be part of Kannada films,” she explains. Working in Amrutha Ramam has been a great experience, she acknowledges, adding that, though the intense role of a possessive girlfriend wasn’t easy, she managed to do justice to it. “Acting is all about feeling the emotion; I was in love in real life sometime back, so I could easily connect to the character,” she reveals.
