Ram Gopal Varma's Vijayawada visit creates flutter
He came to the city to work on Vangaveeti.
Vijayawada: Director Ram Gopal Varma, who came to the city to work on Vangaveeti, a film based on controversial feud between two families and rowdies of the city, has left for Hyderabad by 5.30 pm flight. Mr Varma told reporters that he would stay in the city for three days and meet several veterans in the city. He even challenged Vijayawada rowdies before coming to city on his Twitter account. Earlier in the day, he met AP Congress vice-president Devineni Rajasekhar aka Nehru, who is the rival of Vangaveeti family, senior advocate Karnati Rammohan Rao and others.
This drew criticism from TD and CPI whose leaders warned Mr Varma not to perpetuate feud in the city by digging the past and showing it in bad light. Central constituency MLA Bonda Umamahes-wara Rao said that there is a chance of riots taking place in city with the release of the film and asked him to stop it. CPI city secretary Done-pudi Shankar objected to Varma’s movie through which he said a wrong message would be sent to the present generation.
