Rumours about Vijaya Nirmala's biopic quashed
We have not given permission for any biopic': Naresh
News about a biopic on the late actress-producer-director Vijaya Nirmala (wife to veteran Telugu superstar Krishna) has been doing the rounds over the last few days.
It is being widely reported that National Award-winning actress Keerthy Suresh is likely to play Vijaya Nirmala and that the project would go on the floors soon.
However, Nirmala’s son, actor Vijaya Naresh, has rubbished these reports. “I don’t know from where the rumours have come from; these are false and baseless,” says Naresh.
Noting that the family of the concerned person has to give permission and rights to make a biopic, the actor clarified that, “We have not given permission to anyone to make a biopic on my mother.”
Naresh said, however, that he had been penning a script for a biopic.
“She asked me to write a script for the biopic and I started work. But after her health deteriorated last year, and in view of subsequent developments (Vijaya Nirmala passed away in June 2019), I have slowed down the writing process,” he says.
A biopic on a versatile personality like Vijaya Nirmala is no walk in the park, adds her son.
“She holds the Guinness World Record for directing most films (44) by a female director. She was a great actress, filmmaker and a multi-dimensional person. A biopic on such a towering personality needs a lot of research and attention to detail,” Naresh explains, adding, “There were various facets to her life, and to chronicle all those, perspectives and viewpoints of all the family members have to be taken into consideration.”
Since Naresh has already started writing the script, we ask him if he is planning to direct the biopic too.
“It is too early to comment on. I need to get the script right and complete it. Since I have just started writing, perhaps it may take more than a year to complete. So let’s see,” he says.
