AP, TS allow six shows of Adipurush; demand for 5th show for small films unaddressed

Hyderabad: The Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments have allowed  six shows for the recent release ‘Adipurush’ while the demand of small films producers to grant a fifth show for small films in theatres still remains unaddressed.

“We have no issues with ‘Adipurush’ getting extra shows. But the request of small film producers to permit an additional 2.30 pm show for their films in 1300-odd theatres in the two Telugu states still remains unaddressed,” said Prasanna Kumar, general secretary, Telugu Film Producers’ Council. He urged the governments to look into their long-pending demand to safeguard the interests of small filmmakers.

“Out of 200-odd films made every year in Telugu, 160-odd movies are small films and they need support. They provide livelihood for thousands of cine workers. But both the governments overlook their requests, while producers of star-studded big movies are able to get extra shows. This is unfortunate,” he added.

It remains to be seen whether governments   will heed to their demand at least now.
