Actor Nikhil Siddhartha’s latest release, Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada, is the talk of the town. Having overcome the effects of demonetisation and registering good collections even in the second weekend, the number of theatres running the film have also gone up and the film is doing extremely well. Overwhelmed by the response, Nikhil says that the success has made him even more confident. “I knew that I didn’t have to do run off the mill movies to bring people to the theatres. Now, that belief has been reinstated,” he says.

When asked what his strategy is going to be henceforth, he is quick to respond, “I will continue to do films that I believe in because it has been proven that when I believe in a script, the end product is great. I will not compromise at any cost from now on. I think that a script is bigger than anything including the hero and heroine. In the end, good cinema is of utmost priority to me.”

Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada has been received well in both the Telugu speaking states for sure, but it is also Nikhil’s first film which crossed the half-a-million-dollar mark at the US box-office. Nikhil explains why it could have worked. “I am on a high right now! I think the film’s biggest USP is that everyone can watch it. While there is a huge inflow of students at most of theatres, even kids and elderly people have been loving it. The film isn’t a routing horror comedy and it has got a love track weaved in. You don’t have the eerie sound effects and all,” he says.
