Surabhi on cloud nine after success of Gentleman
The actress talks about her film Gentleman's success, about her role, and co-star Nani.
After the hits Express Raja with Sharwanand and Gentleman with Nani, actress Surabhi is on a roll. “I watched Gentleman sitting with the audience and enjoyed the whistles and clapping,” says Surabhi.
About her character Aishwarya in Gentleman, she says, “It was a challenging role to play as it had a few shades. Sometimes the character was very soft and sometimes emotional. Director Mohan Sir conducted a workshop before the shoot and he gave all the dialogues and asked me to know their meanings. This preparation helped us play the characters in-depth.”
The workshop and reading sessions brought all the actors together. “It helped us perform and also to mingle with the other actors. That’s how Nivetha (the other female lead in the film) and I became good friends,” says Surabhi.
The director and actor Nani both have said that Surabhi looks innocent and sweet in real life too. “Yes, my sweetness becomes my weakness,” says the actress.
Director Indraganti Mohan Krishna roped in Surabhi after seeing her in Raghuvaran B.Tech, a Tamil film that had released in Telugu too. “He told me that he liked my performance and the innocence on my face,” says Surabhi.
She adds that she is a big fan of Nani. “I have watched all his films, he is a unique actor. He was very supportive throughout the film; actually he suggested my name to the director,” she says, adding that she hasn’t signed any new film yet.
“Language is no barrier for me as I got my first break in Tamil and later in Telugu. I want to continue working in both the industries. I love cinema and want to do good films,” she concludes.
