Lavanya Tripathi’s tryst with comedy
Actress thrilled to have role written for her by director Ritesh Rana
Looks like Lavanya Tripathi is set to spring a surprise! She will be working on a crime comedy for the first time. She will soon commence shooting for the film directed by Ritesh Rana of Mattu Vadalara fame.
Sharing her excitement, Lavanya says she watched Mattu Vadalara, and liked Ritesh’s directorial finesse. “That film was one of its kind; what impressed me big time was his gripping screenplay,” she says, adding that he wrote a script for her.
The Arjun Suravaram star feels the role is a great opportunity for her to experiment with comedy genre. In fact, she has been participating in workshops for character design. “I have been working on my comic quotient, pun, and timing, apart from body language for my role. It’s been a great experience and I am looking forward to start shooting,” she says.
The role will be different from anything she’s done before, shares Lavanya. Is she witty in real life too, we ask. “Yes, I am, but never in front of the camera,” she says, smiling — and hence the workshop and prep.
The actress reveals that this is a strong character, and it requires a lot of time to develop. “I am game to spend any length of time on it,” she says. Admitting that she’s picky about roles, she however feels that this one was worth the wait.
Lavanya will be undergoing a makeover looks-wise too. She believes it will surprise the audience.
