Salaar losing steam in Hindi belt, to fall short of Pushpa'?
Prabhas has a long way to go to surpass the collections of Allu Arjun's 'Pushpa'
Despite drawing sensational openings in North India, the much-hyped ‘Salaar’(Chapter1: Ceasefire) starring Prabhas, is losing steam among Hindi viewers after doing well in the first week. “Till date, it has collected Rs 93 crore net collections and gross of Rs 109 crores in North India,” says a Hindi distributor and adds, “There is a drastic dip in collections in Hindi belt and footfalls at theatres are dwindling a bit after record breaking openings,” he adds.
Actually, the Hindi dubbing rights of ‘Salaar’ were sold for a whopping Rs 120 cores and it could break-even if it draws more crowds this week. “If it attracts more eyeballs in second week, the action adventure could break even for Hindi distributors. However, it would be difficult for Prabhas to surpass the collections of his arch rival Allu Arjun''s 'Pushpa’ which remains one of the highest grossing Telugu dubbed films in North India as it garnered Rs 150 crore gross collections," he points out.
He claims that Prabhas had to pull on crowds on his own since the film didn’t boast of great songs and romance, while "Allu Arjun’s swag and performance besides wonderful songs and enchanting love track between Allu Arjun and Rashmika helped the film to sustain in theatres for three weeks and eventually it could garner record breaking collections in North," he adds.
While Prabhas also had hits like ‘Sahoo’ in Hindi market but his last release ‘Adipurush’ couldn’t spin box office magic. "Saaho’ was a bigger hit among Hindi viewers for Prabhas and he touched Rs 80 to 90 crores mark in North India. This time, he would be crossing the magic figure of Rs 100 crores with 'Salaar," he concludes.
