Former Miss India to Debut in Films
Varanasi Manasa cast opposite Galla Ashok
Varanasi Manasa was beckoned with several offers after she won Miss India in 2020. While nothing excited her, it was director Arjun Jandyala’s script that drew her attention. She came on board immediately after listening to the narration.
The film is going to be her debut and she is cast opposite Galla Ashok (Superstar Mahesh Babu’s nephew).
“I was looking for an actress who knows Telugu because of the nativity of the role. At the same time if the actress happens to have a background from the North, it’ll be a double delight,” shares the director, stating that he was thrilled to find Manasa for the part. The director saw Manasa’s photos, videos and pageant tapes and believed that she would perfectly fit the bill. “Initially I gave a brief narration about her character design and how it unfolds. She was instantly hooked to it. Later, I narrated the complete story and she was on board,” says the director.
Apparently, Manasa, who hails from Hyderabad, prioritised Arjun Jandyala’s film even though she had a few offers in Hindi. “She could relate to her role of Satyabhama, a middle class girl in the film, and agreed to make her screen debut with our film. Manasa can speak and understand Telugu, so she quickly got into the character.”
While the film was shot nearly 70 per cent, Manasa too is nearly done shooting for her part. She will join the next schedule of the film and wrap up her portion.
