No Spark in Devara Song, say Fans

Janhvi Kapoor makes a debut in Telugu cinema with ‘Devara: Part One,’ where she starred alongside Jr NTR. The latest song from the movie Chuttamalle was released on Monday and it has caused mixed reactions. Several people praised the peppy track which was sung by Shilpa Rao and composed by Anirudh Ravichander, including Janhvi’s boyfriend Shikhar Pahariya; however, some Reddit users complained about the lack of chemistry between the protagonists and also mentioned their 14-year age difference.

On the other hand, Chuttamalle, which has also come out as Dheere Dheere in Hindi is a romantic number contrasting with the high-energy Fear Song. However, it has not appealed to everyone. A Redditor shared a clip from the song, commenting, “No chemistry between Janhvi (27) and Jr NTR (41). This pair looks so odd. The age gap is jarring (Let’s see if it’s justified in the movie). Jr NTR looks so awkward and out of place.”

Some comments in response to this post included “She looks like a teen next to him,” and “She looks so young next to him that's what's adding more to the already uncomfortable look on their face…” Another user said: “Jr NTR looks bored; I think this is probably her first time acting according to ability rather than wasting good scripts. Also, why does this video look like an Instagram director filmed it with all those filters?”

"This looks like a TikTok reel where the main dancer is accompanied by an 'instructor' who is just going through motions", opined someone about this song while comparing it to TikTok reels. “Jr NTR looks positively bored and extremely out of place, this looks bad, lol…” Another person said: “This was eww. Lack of chemistry and the navel moves make it worse.”

“This long shirt of his makes his legs look even shorter and when he is beside her it throws me off,” one comment pointed out. “There’s like 2 % ‘young and extroverted village girl with quiet and mysterious guy eight years older than her’ vibe going on here but it’s faint. If the movie cashes in on that it will make these two fit better.” A hilarious response to Jr NTR’s famous song ‘Naatu Naatu’ is about one user who likened the latest number to this saying: “After Naatu Naatu this feels like 'Don't-do Don't-do'… so new.”

Directed by Koratala Siva, the film is produced by Yuvasudha Arts and NTR Arts and will be released in September 2024 under the title "Devara: Part One". An even more important role has been played in the film by Saif Ali Khan which has been appealing to a lot of cinema enthusiasts thus increasing anxiety around this high-profile project.
