Despite big promotions, the much-hyped love story ‘Manamey’ starring Sharwanand and Krithi Shetty failed to draw a sensational opening in the two Telugu states. “It has managed to garner mere Rs 2 crores net collections in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and it is truly a dismal start for much-awaited movie,’ says a leading distributor who adds, “Sharwanand played a very different and flamboyant role, while Krithi’s performance was another USP of the film, but the film has to pick up faster and quickly too,” he adds.

No doubt, People Media Factory proved to be a banner which spends a lot for aesthetics and breath-taking visuals on foreign locales but the dreary screenplay has put paid to their plans. “Director Sriram Aditya couldn’t make a very convincing and engaging film despite having enough resources but his film fell short of expectations,’ he adds.

Probably, Sharwanand was confident about this film and allocated more than 90 days for this film being shot in UK since his last few films like ‘Mahasamudram,’ ‘Adavallu Meeku Joharlu’ and ‘Oke Oka Jeevitham Kanam’ has crashed at the box office. "This is Sharwanand's landmark 35th film and he would be hoping for a hit," he concludes.
