According to a leading distributor, the much-hyped Tamil dubbed movie G.O.A.T has received poor openings in the two Telugu states. "Vijay film garnered mere Rs 90 lakhs on day one in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana," he says. He claims that the dual role magic didn't work among Telugu viewers. "It has to pick up from today and cash in 2 more holidays to make some money," he adds.

In fact, Vijay's last film Leo performed well in two Telugu states and prompted Telugu distributors to bet their money on GOAT. "The Telugu dubbing rights were bought for over Rs 15 cr, so action adventure has to garner more collections, otherwise it would be difficult for distributors to recover their money," he points out.
No doubt, Vijay played two contrasting roles in a terrorist-centric movie and relied upon age-defying technology rather than an interesting story. "Unfortunately, some of Vijay's moments with his wife Sneha remind us of his earlier film Leo. Where he fears his wife and doesn't share a lot of things with her," he concludes.
