Mumbai: After Samsung’s much-hyped Gear S2 smartwatch was revealed at CES 2016, the device has been finally launched in India on Thursday at Rs 24,300.

The elegant smartwatch has been launched in two variants—standard and classic version—which will be available online via Flipkart. Both the versions employ the same hardware and the only visible difference is the design.

The feature-rich smartwatch sports a circular design and rotating bezel that can be utilised to toggle between the apps, and rest of the menu. Other than that, you can also utilise the on-screen touch for navigating.

Running on Samsung’s Tizen OS coupled with a 1Ghz dual-core processor, and 512MB RAM, the watch comes in quite handy for quick task completion. The device also comes with 4GB internal storage space. The 1.2-inch circular display with a resolution of (360x360 pixels) also offers a vibrant interface.

As we mentioned earlier, the two variants of this device have a notable design difference: The Standard one comes with a Silicon belt strap, and the classic one employs a retro design along with a leather belt strap.

In addition, the 3G variant of the Gear S2 comes with a SIM slot within. In terms of power, the smart device utilises a 250mAh battery unit, which can easily last more than a day, while the company has claimed that the device can last 2-3 days on a single charge. Available connectivity options include NFC, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.1.

Moreover, the watch comes along with IP68 certification for dust and water resistance, and the usual fitness app including a heart-rate monitor, pedometer, and much more.

The Tizen OS excludes third-party apps that will be a disappointment for users; however, the company has also designed apps for numerous notifications—mail, text messages, calendar events and fitness schedules.

The Standard smartwatch will be available in two colours—dark grey and silver and is priced at Rs 24,300. Besides, there will be a wide range of belt options that users can choose from.

However, the Classic version of the smartwatch is priced a little higher at Rs 25,800, and is available in grey and brown leather options.
