Mumbai: India discard Yuvraj Singh is organising a cancer awareness programme for school children across the country through his initiative YouWeCan.

The campaign by the stylish left-handed batsman, who himself had recovered from a rare form of germ cell cancer in 2012 to play for the country again, would cover over 2,000 schools across 26 towns and cities and is expected to start off with Delhi, Mumbai and Chandigarh, a media release said today.

"Every year over 12 million people succumb to the life -threatening disease and in most cases cancer goes undetected till the last stage. I want to create awareness about early detection and also raise funds for free cancer testing for those who cannot afford it. I sincerely urge people to come forward and join the cause," said Yuvraj in his appeal.

YouWeCan is an initiative of the Yuvraj Singh Foundation (YSF) in association with Khelnama, a community for sports lovers.
