India's former foreign shooting coach Tibor passes away

New Delhi: India's former foreign shooting coach Tibor Gonczol, who has mentored some of the country's top marksmen, passed away in Australia at the age of 80.

Tibor was born on Jan 19, 1933 in Hungary and has represented his country of birth from 1952 to 1955 before shifting base to Australia.

He settled in Australia in 1957 and represented his adopted country at many international competitions, including the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo.

Tibor sharted his coaching career in 1973.

Tibor had a 12-year successful stint with Indian shooting that lasted from 1991 and 2002.

Tibor coached some of India's top shooters like Samresh Jung, Jaspal Rana, Anjali Bhagwat and Suma Shirur.
