Political game show on Facebook gets a professional touch
It seems to be politicians turn to approach professional social media analysts to promote themselves in the cybersphere.
Kochi: It seems to be politicians turn to approach professional social media analysts to promote themselves in the cybersphere. Following the footsteps of film stars, several politicians including ministers and sitting MLAs have approached professionals to give their social media profile a professional touch.
Recently Pinarayi Vijayan and many high profile politicians joined facebook to promote their ideas and raise criticisms against opposition parties. According to social media analysts, Keralaites are using facebook more than twitter compared to people in other parts of India. Keeping this in mind, most celebrities and politicians are targeting facebook to maximize their reach.
“We have already rebranded the pages of Thrithala MLA V T Balram and Shafi Parambil . We are getting calls from several politicians to ensure social media presence” said Abdul Manaf, a known figure in social media marketing. CM Oommen Chandy, V.T. Balram and Shafi Parambil have verified profiles. The verification process is to ensure that people don't follow fake accounts.
“I feel that apart from getting technical assistance one should manage one's profile personally. This is so that we can express out frank opinions and avoid controversies related to unwanted posts", said Kerala Congress MLA V.T. Balram.
He added that appointing professionals to manage the entire facebook page was not a good idea. Balram is an active facebook user and he has managed to attract several followers. He also landed in trouble by posting a draft bill. He was reprimanded by Assembly Speaker G Karthikeyan for posting the draft .
