Water triggers another dispute
Dispute follows after water sharing from JC Nagi Reddy drinking water project in Tadipatri area.
Anantapur: Another inter-district water dispute is likely to ignite between Kadapa-Anantapur following water sharing from JC Nagi Reddy drinking water project in Tadipatri area in Anantapur district.
Tadipatri former municipal chairperson J.C. Prabhakar Reddy has threatened to divert the Tungabhadra HLC water from Pulivendula Branch Canal towards Penna river, if the government fails to release allocated water to JC Nagi Reddy water project by January 13 onwards.
The farmers would cut the water supply to Pulivendula Branch Canal near Tumpera Deepcut in Narpala mandal to divert water into Penna river to recharge borewells of drinking water in Tadipatri area, he stated.
Refuting the leaders from Kadapa district were resisting release of allocated water to the drinking water project to mitigate water problem through JC Nagi Reddy project, Reddy alleged, “Kadapa leaders are forcibly obstructing the release of water from Gandikota reservoir and diverting to other sources.”
He lamented that the Kurnool district leaders were stopping assured allocated water into Handri Neeva Sujala Shravanthi which had to cover many villages to meet drinking water needs in Anantapur district.
On the otherside, Kadapa representatives were using their power to divert assured allocations from Gandikota reservoir.
Referring to Anantapur farmers were permitting TB water to Pulivendula in Kadapa through Anantapur, he threatened to divert water from January 13 and planning to divert PBC water to connecting tanks of Anantapur district before releasing to Pulivendula.
