Aishwarya Rai had bagged the title in 1994, followed by Diana Haydon in 1997, Yukta Mookhey in 1999 and Priyanka Chopra in 2000, the last for India. Chhillar's win brings India at level with Venezuela as the countries with most victories in the history of the pageant.
Chhillar is the sixth Indian to win the coveted crown, which was first won by Reita Faria back in 1966.

Before winning the actual title, Manushi also won the Head to Head challenge and the Beauty with a purpose segment of the Miss World competition.
The 20-year-old looked very shocked when her name was announced, her family in the audience couldn't contain their excitement either.
Manushi was given the crown by Miss World 2016 winner Puerto Rico's Stephanie Del Valle.
She was among 109 contestants from various countries at a glittering event held at Sanya City Arena in Beijing, China.
Chhillar who earlier won the Femina Miss India 2017 title hails from Haryana, and is the sixth Indian to be crowned Miss World.
The last time India won the title was 17 years ago when Priyanka Chopra won the title in 2000.
