Anantapur: Volatile politics in the state due to the bifurcation issue has forced many senior leaders to step aside from direct politics. They are now planning to field their children in the forthcoming general elections for both Assembly and Lok Sabha in Rayalaseema region.
Several new young faces are likely to dominate the general elections following the twists in the political scenario. At least 15 youngsters are likely to be in the fray.
Sources said that senior Congressman and Tadipatri legislator J.C. Diwakar Reddy, who has been in active politics since the past four decades, has decided not to contest in the coming polls. In fact, he has decided to quit the Congress and is reportedly seeking both Tadipatri Assembly seat and Anantapur Lok Sabha ticket for his son and brother respectively on TD tickets.
Diwakar Reddy’s son J.C. Pavankumar Reddy was all set to be fielded from Tadipathri segment from Telugu Desam and J.C. Prabhakar Reddy as Lok Sabha candidate from Anantapur Lok Sabha segment.
YSR Congress had already announced Peram Sarojamma, the young daughter-in-law of Peram Nagi Reddy who shifted loyalties from Telugu Desam few days ago.
Former DCC president Patil Venugopal Reddy has decided to field his son Patil Ajay from Rayadurg Assembly segment. Venugopal Reddy had lost twice in the MLA and MLC polls.
Slain warlord Paritala Ravindra’s son Paritala Sreeram is likely to contest on a Telugu Desam ticket either from Rapthadu or Penukonda Assembly segments if his mother keeps away from direct politics.
Minister Galla Aruna-kumari has already allowed her son to decide his political future. YSRC leader Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy from Chittoor district has decided to field his son Mithun Reddy from Rajampeta Assembly segment in Kadapa district.

AICC starts selection of candidates
Hyderabad: The Congress high command has started the exercise of selection of party candidates for the forthcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
The AICC has sent seven observers to Andhra Pradesh on Monday. Thirty five more are expected to arrive here after the ongoing Assembly session is over. The AICC has allotted one Lok Sab-ha constituency to each observer. The observers will tour their respective constituency and interact with local party workers and concerned MLAs.
PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana told the media on Monday that the first phase of selection of candidates will be completed by January 15. He added that the second phase of the exercise will commence after the AICC session, which will be held at Delhi from January 17.
According to the PCC chief, the seven AICC observers, who have already arrived, have completed their selection of Lok Sabha candidates.
Satyanarayana said he would meet Kapu MLAs on Tuesday to discuss inclusion of Kapu in the list of Backward Communities.
