Electricity vigilance police Prasad Reddy appeals to people not to indulge in power theft.
Anantapur: Anantapur vigilance cell and electricity vigilance police conducted raids in Peddamanthur village, Roddam mandal and booked power theft cases against T. Lakshmanna for indulging in pilferage of power for the second time, on Tuesday.
Electricity vigilance police inspector G. Prasad Reddy said, as per the Electricity Act-2003, only the first offence is compoundable by the accused and second offence is not compoundable.
G. Prasad Reddy said T. Lakshmanna was arrested for indulging in power theft case for the second time and produced him before the first Additional District Sessions Court.
The court remanded the accused till January 20, electricity vigilance inspector said.
Prasad Reddy appealed to people not to indulge in power theft.
He said that the electricity officials are ready to issue new meters as per requirement if the consumers pay the requisite amount for it.
