Won't let AAP hold rallies in Amethi: Outfit
A radical outfit threatens to block AAP motor mouth Kumar Viswas's rallies in UP.
Meerut: Irked over AAP leader Kumar Vishwas' comments against a certain community, a radical outfit in Uttar Pradesh threatened to block his rallies in the state.
Vishwas is likely to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Amethi against Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, and address a few rallies here, even as his party plans to contest all 80 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
"We will not let Kumar Vishwas hold any rally in Amethi... not just Amethi, but the whole of Uttar Pradesh," Amit Jani, UP Nav Nirman Sena (UPNNS) president Amit Jani said on Tuesday.
Jani recalled how the outfit beheaded Mayawati's statues and caused agitation in the state few years back, and warned against taking the threat lightly.
Vishwas had apologised for the comments, which created a political furore, including JD(U) MLA Shoaib Iqbal threatening to withdraw support to the AAP government in Delhi.
While Shoaib forgave the leader and reconciled, UPNNS and the people of the state wouldn't forgive, Jani said. Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit Amethi on January 10.

AAP govt should fulfil promises made to people, says Pilot
New Delhi: Noting that there is lot of expectations from the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government, Union Minister Sachin Pilot today said it should carry out good governance and fulfil promises made to people rather than cite reasons and problems.
AAP government, headed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, is being supported by Congress from outside.
"They have just started work. The new government in Delhi is being supported by the Congress and we are giving support on the basis of issues.
"We believe that if the new government in Delhi is working for the betterment of Delhi we are going to support them as long as they want us our support. But the idea is governance should follow," the Corporate Affairs Minister said here.
The young Congress leader also said that AAP has made a lot of claims and promises that have raised expectations of the electorate in Delhi and people have voted them with lot of expectations.
"I believe that the political change that has happened with the formation of the new party and the kind of promises they have made... is a new idea. But the idea needs to be brought to fruition and we need to make sure that resources are there, it is done in a time frame that is not very long," he said on the sidelines of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas event.
Emphasising that Congress party wants AAP government to succeed in fulfilling their promises, Pilot said that is the exact reason why Congress party have supported the AAP.
"... we wish them success. We want them to succeed and live up to their promises in all their endeavours Congress party will support them. But the idea is not to cite reasons and problems but to do governance," he said.
Asked about meetings attended today by Congress President Sonia Gandhi's daughter Priyanka Gandhi, Pilot said, "She has been part of the congress family for a long time.
"As we know, she has been campaigning in Amethi and Rae Bareli as and when required and she keeps in touch with the Congress party workers in the state. So there is nothing new...."
