Paris: Attacker, officer dead, 3 wounded in Champs-Elysees shooting

The incident occurred only two days after the French police detained two suspects and foiled their attempts at an attack.

France's government has reviewed its already extensive election security measures and says it is \"fully mobilized\" in the wake of the Champs-Elysees gun attack on police officers.
Emergency vehicles blocked the wide avenue lined with shops that cuts across central Paris between the Arc de Triomphe and the Tuileries Gardens, normally packed with cars and tourists.
Investigators found a pump-action shotgun and knives in the deceased gunman's car.
The Islamic State group claimed the shooting, which came three days before the first round of France's presidential election on Sunday in which security is a major concern after a string of bloody jihadist assaults since 2015.
A witness identified only as Ines told French television station BFM that she heard a shooting and saw a man's body on the ground before police quickly evacuated the area where she works in a shop.
Police and soldiers sealed off the area, ordering tourists back into their hotels and blocking people from approaching the scene.
