The much-hyped action film ‘Gangs of Godavari’ has reportedly garnered Rs 5 crore plus net collections in the two Telugu states. “Vishwak Sen movie has clocked decent collections for two days but is losing steam a bit," says a distributor, who claims that the film grossed over Rs 7 crore gross collections. “It is a good start and we have to check how it will sustain in the days to come,’ he adds.
Although Vishwak Sen puts in a decent performance, he couldn’t salvage a dreary screenplay and over the top emotions. “The film received mixed response and it has affected collections a bit, with Saturday and Sunday, we are hoping that it would recover its investments,” he points out.
The budget of the rural based film has been pegged at Rs 11 crore and it has to rock the box office for at least one week to reach a break-even point. “Vishwak has pulled in initials, and now the film has to carry on his own, while director Krishna Chaitanya failed to come up with an engaging and gripping screenplay,” he concludes.
The pre-release promotions helped the action film to garner openings and Balakrishna praised Vishwak Sen for his talent.
