Serenity by the Sea: Discovering Four Seasons The Nam Hai

Update: 2024-07-25 14:40 GMT

Gorgeous property, impeccable service and delicious food—these words sum up my experience at The Four Seasons Nam Hai in Vietnam. The hotel is just a few miles outside the historic town of Hoi An and is only a 30 minute drive from Da Nang International Airport (DAD).

Idyllic Setting

A sense of serenity and luxury envelops you the moment you step into the Four Seasons The Nam Hai in Vietnam. From the time I arrived, I felt like I was going to experience something truly special and this beautiful property, located on the beachfront, just outside the historic town of Hoi An, far exceeded my expectations.

The hotel, set amid the swaying coconut palms that overlooked the East Vietnam Sea, just hinted at a serendipity of tranquility. Indeed, the scenic drive from the Da Nang International Airport led through blue mountains and across the blue skies, thus really setting the scene.

The seamless check-in and prompt delivery of luggage facilitated retiring into the villa for me upon arrival. The aromatic cold towels handed upon arrival were refreshing, instantly melting away the fatigue of my long flight.

Lush Gardens and Warm Smiles

My three bedroom ocean-view pool villa was centrally located, within walking distance from the beach, lobby, and restaurants, yet it was all that one could want in terms of being private and comfortable. It was the thatched roof made of terracotta tiles, and tastefully done up interiors that lent much warmth and elegance to the place. This spacious room gave me many different little coves where I could retreat, a really plush bed with curtains, and a golden ceramic bathtub that truly stood out.

The hotel’s attention to detail showed in the free snacks and fruit, plus a fully-stocked mini-bar replenished daily. The bathroom with a powder room, an enclosed indoor shower, and a freestanding outdoor shower were truly an oasis. Aromatherapy infusion oils and lush green backyard added to the ambiance.

As you step out of the French windows of your room, you will find chaise lounges overlooking the East Vietnam Sea. And if you are an early riser, you could watch the sunrise beautifully paint the sky in hues of Tangerine. Walk barefoot to the sea as the soft white sand caress your feet. As you take in the breathtaking beauty of the place, you will most certainly see people wearing non la (conical hats) tending to the garden with their signature smiles as they greet you.

I strolled around the property to see what activities they had in store to cater to different age groups. The lap pool invites you to take a refreshing dip, the tennis and badminton courts give guests a chance to be active, and the kids’ club with its splash pool and mini sun loungers make sure that the little ones are equally entertained. The organic garden, where the hotel produces its own vegetables, goes on to show how far the property would go in being sustainable.

Nourishing Body and Soul at Four Seasons The Nam Hai

Culinary Delights—each one waiting for me in the restaurants—more special than the rest was the massive and sumptuous breakfast platter at Cafe Nam Hai. Being a vegetarian, I must add that the hotel really did take some considerate steps toward catering to my diet, even going so far as preparing my meal in a separate kitchen for vegetarians. The Vietnamese cooking class on the preparation of rice rolls and salad was fun and participative as well.

The relaxation at Heart of the Earth spa was ethereal. Beginning with the ritual of quartz crystal alchemy bowls and a sound bath, the Vietnamese bodywork indeed left me rejuvenated. Picturesque surroundings, filled with lush coconut trees and a colorful lotus pond, only added to the ambiance. This was followed by what’s called a 'Good Night Kiss to the Earth.' Write down your heartfelt wishes on candle lit paper lanterns and gently set them afloat on the water. And upon your return to the villa, you could even indulge in some quiet time by lounging on the patio chair with a thought-provoking book by renowned Vietnamese Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh. Immerse yourself in his wisdom on mindfulness and let the soothing atmosphere wash over you – it's a truly unforgettable experience.

Unlocking Local Culture and Luxury

As is with other properties, the Four Seasons at Nam Hai too had curated some signature experiences—a tour of the ancient town of Hoi An and the Vespa foodie adventure—allowed me the immersion into local culture. We also made stops at the Sampan Rhum distillery. The attention from the staff, very thoughtfully rendered in every experience, really makes everything so memorable.

I also had the privilege of experiencing the luxurious DIORIVERA popup at Four Seasons Nam Hai, where I was treated to an exclusive tour of the latest haute couture collection by the iconic House of Dior. The pièce de résistance was indulging in the sublime fragrances crafted by the master perfumers at Christian Dior – an utterly heavenly experience that left me enchanted and mesmerised.

The hospitality of the staff and the services provided really made me feel at home during my stay at The Four Seasons, Nam Hai. From hailing buggies to serving every whim of mine, they made sure that I had a smooth experience. Warm smiles and genuine hospitality add to the atmosphere.
