Chennai: With Chennaites exploring new entertainment angles over conventional beaches and city pubs, commercial yachts are cropping up at Chennai port to facilitate special moments for the adventurous to savour.

In collaboration with Royal Madras Yacht Club (RMYC), the private yachts, with many luxury factors including karoake, fishing, games and fine dining, are operating from the city. Three such yachts recently set out to sea with all amenities.

A boat ride is the best option to celebrate special moments, said city residents. An entrepreneur, A.R.M. Gopinath celebrated his son's 13th birthday on a yacht.

Talking to DC, he said that the idea matched his creative quest. "I wanted to reserve that special moment when my son entered age of teens. None of us can forget that experience," said Gopinath.

Many party freaks too agree that the option should not be overused. "Diverting from our mechanical lives to savour the coast line without traffic snarls is an alluring experience. By doing it frequently (other than on special occasions), the fun quotient can be missed," said V. Harshitha Reddy, a corporate employee.

How safe is the fun? Shane Gomes who owns one such yacht said, “Besides a captain and engineers, we deputed 3 deckhand to ensure safety.” He remodeled his fishing boat with luxury in mind after learning about the demand for boats. Inspired by one such boat in Australia, Shane is refurbishing the intricacies of Australian architecture in his boat called ‘The boat company’.

People are bored of existing options and we provide them the change amid open waters to ride in.
