NIRF ranking to institutes promoting quality education and research: Expert
VIJAYAWADA: Prof. T.R. Neelakantan, a former professor at Tamil Nadu's Kalasalingam and Shastra universities, stated on Saturday that NIRF ranking is given to educational institutions that provide higher education, maintain high standards and promote research.
He was speaking at a national workshop on "National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF): A Way to Proceed and the Self-Evolution of the Institution," organized by Vignan’s University IQAC.
Prof. Neelakantan stated that only educational institutions that excel in five categories-teaching, learning and resources; research and professional practice; graduation outcomes; outreach and inclusivity and perception, will be ranked. Aside from these, he said that teaching, research, citations, international outlook, and industry income are all important. The NIRF rankings will be released in the following categories: overall, university, colleges, research institutions, engineering, management, pharmacy, medical, dental, law, and architecture.
He said institutions that offer quality teaching and encourage more research are more likely to get NIRF rankings.
Key guests were honoured while deans, department heads, IQAC staff and faculty attended.
