TS students ace ICSE class 10 exams

Hyderabad: All students from Telangana cleared the class 10 ICSE board exams, the results of which were declared on Sunday.

As per the merit list released by the Council for ICSE examinations, city girl Riya Susan Tony topped the state with a score of 497 out of 500, logging 99.4 per cent (English plus four best subjects). She was followed by Joshua Jacob and P. Appasaheb, who secured 99.2 per cent each, followed by S. Pulipati, Sanjana Punna and Lakkadi Hridya, who secured 98 per cent each.

Among those to top the country were Hargun Kaur Matharu of Pune, Anika Gupta of Kanpur, Pushkar Tripathi of Balrampur and Kanishka Mittal of Lucknow, each of whom scored 499 out of 500.

Overall, students registered a pass percentage of 99.97 in the exams, which comprised 61 written papers, including 20 Indian languages, nine foreign ones and one classical language.

Over 2.31 lakh students took the exams, with 59 failing the same.
The southern and western regions performed best, with a pass percentage of 99.99, followed by the northern region, which logged 99.98 per cent.

As many as 12,980 students of scheduled castes, 7,975 of scheduled tribes and 49,731 of OBCs took the exams.

As many as 692 special difficulty cases, including candidates with learning difficulties, such as dyslexia, took the exams, with 78 securing over 90 per cent. Also, 22 visually-challenged students took the exams, with seven securing over 90 per cent.
