Basar temple to offer online Aksharabhyasam ritual
HYDERABAD: The Telangana endowments department is contemplating to make the 'aksharabhyasam' ritual at the Goddess Saraswati temple in Basara online.
Parents from across the nation throng the temple to formally introduce their kids to education by performing 'aksharabhyasam' at the renowned shrine. Every year, over four lakh pilgrims visit the temple while 40,000 perform 'aksharabhyasam' on the premises.
During the auspicious days, heavy pilgrim rush is witnessed with devotees from far and near making a beeline to have the darshan of the goddess.
In the wake of the heavy rush, the endowments officials are mulling to provide some services online so as to ensure that more devotees can avail them.
Recently, online services were introduced for the Ganesh temple in Secunderabad during the first phase of digitisation of temple services. The overwhelming response in the first phase encouraged the officials to think of extending them to more shrines.
In the second phase, online services would be introduced at Basara temple. It has also been decided that those getting the 'aksharabhyasam' performed online would receive akshatalu, slate, slate pencil and prasadam through post.
