IIT-H conducts joint convocation

HYDERABAD: The Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad (IIT-H) on Monday conducted the ninth and tenth joint convocation.
A total of 1,323 students were conferred with degrees, 600 from 2020 and 723 from 2021 batches. Jatin Sharma won the President’s gold medal for securing the highest CGPA of 9.78. In the masters’ stream, it was Balguri Vrinda with a CGPA of 9.96.
“It took a lot of time and effort to achieve the gold medal. Now that I have got it, I feel so ecstatic,” said Jatin Sharma. He is working with Microsoft as a software developer, and aims to pursue his post-graduation.
“Being a gold medallist, I aim for the best institute possible and study better in my computer science background. If there are good colleges outside India, I would like to join them,” he said.
Union education minister, addressing the convocation, emphasised the solid foundation provided by the national education policy map and said, “As a future leader, you have the responsibility to ensure rejuvenation of the country through research, experimentation and innovation. I assure you, that you are not alone in this endeavour.”
Prof B.S. Murty, director, IIT Hyderabad, presented the institute report for 2020-2021.
