OU contract professors request KCR to solve their problems
They alleged that OU Vice Chancellor Prof. D. Ravinder was targeting contract teaching staff who have been serving the university for years
Hyderabad: Assistant professors working on contract with Osmania University and who have been transferred appealed to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao to intervene and solve problems being faced by them.
They alleged that OU Vice Chancellor Prof. D. Ravinder was targeting contract teaching staff who have been serving the university for years, and heads of various OU colleges had issued summary transfer instructions, not in writing but orally.
When they demanded that written orders be issued, they were given transfer instructions on white paper without the OU or college letter heads, the assistant professors said. “As per university norms, transfers must be initiated by the Registrar and we demanded that since this was not done, the transfer process be stopped,” they said.
The protesting teachers said though they took their issues to the Vice Chancellor, he had ignored them and now they have no other option but to seek the intervention of the Chief Minister in this matter.
Among those who addressed the press meet were Dr A. Parashuram, president, OU Teachers Association (Contract), Dr Dharmateja, OU Contract Assistant Professors, and Dr Velpula Kumar from Telangana Universities Teachers Association (Contract).
