Kishan assures to take up new airport at Warangal with Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu
Hyderabad: Union coal and mines minister G. Kishan Reddy said that he would go ahead with the `Mission 100 Days’ agenda in a day or two by discussing issues with officials, as coal plays a key role in national development in the form of power generation and steel industry.
Kishan Reddy assured that he would take up the issue of construction of a new airport at Warangal with K. Ramomohan Naidu, the new civil aviation minister who hails from AP.
Addressing his first press conference in the new post after taking part in a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, Kishan Reddy said that many private operators had been playing a key role in coal mining and the government would insure that there seamless coordination with them.
Announcing that the Centre would offer special initiatives to generate more revenues, Kishan Reddy said that many states used to face regular power cuts till 2014. After Modi came to power, the government had taken measures to improve coal production, which helped in generating more power. With increased power consumption in the agriculture, industry and domestic sectors, the demand for power was increasing, he said.
Stating that a number of scams took place in the coal sector during the UPA tenure, Kishan Reddy said that the Modi government had brought transparent policies to check such malpractices in coal mining, supply and consumption. He promised to run the coal and mining ministries efficiently under the leadership of Narendra Modi. He also pointed out that most of the mines in the country are functioning under the control of the state governments.
Stating that two Telugu states had got good ministries in the new Cabinet, Kishan Reddy expressed happiness on AP’s K. Ramomohan Naidu getting the civil aviation portfolio, Bandi Sanjay appointed as Union home minister Amit Shah’s deputy, and MoS for rural development and communication for Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, The airports in Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Puttaparthi would get a boost under Rammohan Naidu, he said.
