Kishan Reddy takes charge as Union Minister of Coal and Mines
Hyderabad: Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan took charge at his chambers at ‘A’ block in Shastri Bhavan in New Delhi on Thursday.
Before reaching his office, Reddy performed special prayers at Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple and goddess Sri Kanaka Durga temple in Telangana Bhavan, New Delhi. He then paid tributes to the statue of Indian Constitution chief architect Dr. BR Ambedkar and the Telangana martyrs memorial on the same premises.
Reddy later offered prayers at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib and headed to his office to take charge in the presence of senior officials in the Ministry of Coal and Mines.
He won from Secunderabad Parliament constituency with a majority of over 49,000 votes defeating Congress MLA Danam Nagender during the recently conducted Lok Sabha elections. He earlier worked as Union Minister of State for Home Affairs before becoming Union Tourism and Culture Minister.
Reddy also worked as BJP president in united Andhra Pradesh and he was the first BJP State president after separate Telangana was carved out. For the second time, the BJP high command appointed him as Telangana president.
