I didn't choose 'Server Sundaram', it chose me instead: Bijesh
It looks like Bijesh, grandson of the legendary actor-comedian Nagesh, has a challenging act to follow!
Things only fell in place now, Bijesh starts the conversation — “I am into writing novels in English, and I am a published author. I am no star yet but I am looking forward to act in the movie with part excitement, anticipation and curiosity. I am serious about acting and it’s always been there on my mind for a long time.”
So, what made him choose Server Sundaram? “I’ve watched the original movie a couple of times and I liked it. I didn’t choose the movie. It chose me instead,” he smiles.
But it’s the kind of film that works, Bijesh feels, because there are audiences who like to indulge in such storylines. “Anand Balki, the director, knows our family well. When he saw me, he told me that I look very similar to my grandfather and wanted to cast me in it. I eventually said ‘yes’,” he says and adds that he’s aware of the comparisons and expectations out of a star kid.
“I am preparing myself, so that I do complete justice to my role in the film. I have not decided on any other film, as I am taking my time to sort things. Let’s see how it works out,” he tells us.
Bijesh grew up almost unaware of his grandfather’s superstardom. “At home, he was just thaatha, and now I am so proud that I belong to such a legacy,” he says.
Director Anand Balki says Bijesh plays a catering college student in the film and assures that the first half of Server Sundaram will be a treat for Santhanam fans. “I am a hotel management student myself with interest in films. Though this film has the name of the cult classic, it will be a new movie. There are many things about the food service industry that I will convey through this film but with humour,” he concludes.
