Police asked not to arrest BRS leader in property case
Justice K. Lakshman of the Telangana High Court on Monday directed the police not to arrest BRS former Armoor MLA Jeevan Reddy and others in two criminal cases lodged in the police stations at Chevella and Mokila. The court was dealing with two petitions filed by Jeevan Reddy, his wife Rajita, his sexagenarian mother, domestic help and a friend. According to Sami Damodhar Reddy, he was the rightful owner of the properties in various survey numbers over an extent of over 20 acres 20 guntas. In one police complaint, he had alleged that the petitioners clandestinely entered their property and demolished existing structures for their own constructions. When a complaint was lodged no action was taken. In the second complaint it is alleged that last month a MoU was entered into between the parties and the petitioners — Jeevan Reddy and family — had violated the same. K. Venumadhav, counsel for the petitioner, pointed to contradictions and said that the complaint was politically motivated. Senior counsel D. Prakash Reddy argued that a reading of the complaint would show that the dispute was civil in nature and it was an arm-twisting tactic by the complainant. The judge ordered notice to the complainant and also protected petitioners from being arrested in the interregnum.
GHMC deputy chief faulted for disobeying court orders
Justice C.V. Bhaskar Reddy of the Telangana High Court faulted the GHMC deputy commissioner, who was present in the court, for allegedly disobeying the court’s order and directed him to file an action taken report by the next date of hearing. The judge was dealing with a contempt case filed by Mavoori Vijaya Lakshmi. It is alleged that respondent authorities wantonly violated the orders of the court. Earlier, the judge had directed not to allow any further constructions to be carried out at Khanamet in Serilingampally by the unofficial respondent without there being permission. The petitioner alleged that the unofficial respondent was proceeding with construction without there being any permission and the GHMC failed to take action. The judge posted the matter to June 18 for further adjudications and directed the deputy commissioner of the civic body to file all relevant documents.
