Couple chooses war-torn Syrian city for their wedding shoot

Beautiful wedding photos taken at the war-torn Syrian city of Homs have gone viral.

Although the ongoing civil war in Syria has greatly damaged the city, one couple decided to celebrate their happiness against this backdrop of colossal destruction. (YouTube/ Screen grab)
But some have criticized the pictures saying that they serve as propaganda for the war in the country.
Jafar Meray, who works for the Agence France-Presse, has also done similar photo shoots for other couples in the past.
Youssef works for the Syrian army of Bashar Al Assad, which is ironically the same army that was responsible for destroying Homs. The city, which was bustling with more than 600,000 people, now wears an eerie and deserted look.
The pictures feature the newlyweds romantically posing against a backdrop of broken buildings and on streets strewn with rubble.
The bride, Nada Merhi, 18, wore a traditional wedding dress, while the groom, Hassan Youssef, 27, was dressed in his Syrian Army uniform for the shoot.
Syrian photographer Jafar Meray believes that the pictures serve as a reminder of the belief that life is stronger than death'.
