As the problem of waste disposal and pollution become increasingly serious with the years passing by, one small firm in Kenya decided to do its bit for the environment by making beautiful toys out of old rubber slippers washed up on the beach shores. (Photo: Facebook/ We African Nations)
More and more corporate companies and firms should come up with similar ideas that allow promoting green ecology and still earn profit like this firm.
Of course, such cool toys aren't just meant for kids, they can also be a nice collector's item for adults as well.
What is even more commendable is that such noble initiatives also help in providing much-needed employment opportunities to the local population.
Isn't this a fine and innovative way to protect the environment and showcase our heritage at the same time?
The toys are then treated with chemicals and disinfectants so that they can be suitable for children to play with.
After that, workers creatively use tools like scissors to fashion the rubber into something beautiful.
But one Kenya-based firm decided to do otherwise. They first collect these slippers that are washed on the shores of the sea and then clean them thoroughly.
Most of us would believe that old rubber slippers would be of no use and just throw them out without a second thought.
