Award-winning photographer Sephi Bergerson recently captured a big fat Indian wedding through the lens of his iPhone.
. Bergerson has been photographing Indian weddings for 7 years, you can see the results in his new book “Behind The Indian Veil: A Journey Through Weddings in India.â€
I love using the iPhone but, despite all it's advantages, I don't think it will take over and replace the regular' cameras. What the iPhone represents is a completely new breed of camera.
For the first time we have a camera, a darkroom and and an online research directory in one small device, he expresses.
\"You might not realize it yet, but this is as big, or even bigger than the invention of the digital camera. Under the innocent cover of your iPhone lies a powerful tool that is changing the way we work and think as photographers,\" says Bergerson.
When I export to #instagram I sometimes add another filter there as well.
The next stage, if required, would be face retouching on #facetune.
It would usually start with #snapseed where I correct the contrast, colour and highlights. I sometimes also add a vintage filter before moving to #mextures to add the scratches and grit, he briefs.
I have a very simple workflow for post processing on the iPhone, he says.
Bergerson admits that it was tricky to photograph under the low light but the daytime pics were superb. “The kind of images that come out are somewhere between documentary or photo journalism and what I would call fine art, closer to paintings,†he explains.
“With DSLR, the camera comes between me and the subject. The iPhone won't replace the DLSR but it offers a completely new medium of photography,†Bergerson explains.
Bergerson used his iPhone 6s Plus. “What I like about the iPhone is it helps me get much closer to the subject and have eye contact,†says Bergerson.
\"The wedding was possibly the biggest I have ever photographed. The events took place in Udaipur over three incredible days at the end of November 2015 in Udaipur. I have covered many weddings in Udaipur before, but have never seen the place so beautifully decorated. It was such a pleasure taking pictures when everything, and everyone, looking so gorgeous,\" says Sephi Bergerson on his blog.
Then, he came across Ayushi and Abhishek with their big fat 3-day Indian wedding in Udaipur in Rajasthan.
It's been his dream to shoot and edit an entire wedding using only his iPhone but he couldn't find a couple who would let him do such experiment.
