Thirssur: Artist Dr Jiji S Deepak who had held a paper quilling art exhibition in Thrissur in June, the first of its kind to the held in the state, has entered the Universal Records Forum for making the largest number of such paintings. In July she had now won the Indian Book of records for the same achievement. The exhibition held at Lalitha Kala Academy had attracted a huge crowd and received widespread appreciation from art lovers.
Jiji, who is a dentist by profession, had put on show as many as 101 works of paper quilling at the exhibition and set the record on the basis of the exhibition. “The paper used for the works are purchased online from across the country and abroad and focus is given on purchasing different shades of colours as these papers are deftly cut and rolled into different shapes for each creation,” Jiji said. Adding her skills in painting using acrylic and crayons, she had blended paper quilling with paintings in some of her works. Along with paper, the artist also used beads and shells in some of her works.
