Museum strikes chord among Bengaluru's music lovers

This art walk, led by artist Aditi Nayar will include a tour through the collection of R. Madhavan Nayar, a pioneer who envisioned building an art resource for the public. The walk, according to the organisers is an effort to explore the key ideas that influenced India's art movements and collectives, and examine 20th century masters and their artworks.

Bengaluru: Bengaluru , which has 30 museums, is all set to get one more with the Centre for Indian Music Experience planning to open  the city's first ever musical museum by the end of June.

The facility, which will include a Sound Garden and a cafeteria, will open to the public after  June 25. The museum is likely to have many instruments belonging to famous musicians like Ustad Bismillah Khan along with a collection of around 250 other Indian instruments.

Meanwhile,  the city which observed World Museum Day on Thursday along with the rest of the globe, will see workshops,  museum tours and memories shared on social media during the  four- day long celebration.

Of the many museums spread across the city, five prominent ones are participating in the event organised by the Tourism Department in association with the Department of Kannada and Culture.

With a theme titled " Once Upon A Time" it was no surprise that the first day saw storytelling events , besides a mobile treasure hunt at the Government Museum, a talk on the history of miniature paintings at the National Gallery of Modern Art, and a museum walk at the Visveswaraya Industrial and Technological Museum. 

The Karnataka Chitrakala Parishad saw students from 60 art colleges and numerous artisans sharing their expertise on the Bidari art form. Meanwhile, the Human Brain Museum at NIMHANS organised a symposium on neuroscience and held an interactive demonstration on the oldest human brains from its archives. 

The HAL Aerospace Museum had a photo display of the growth of aviation and  let the audience have a motion simulated experience of flying fighter jets and other aircraft.       

More treasure hunts, museum walks, talks, workshops and film screenings are in the pipeline.
