Parsis celebrate Navroz in Hyderabad

Parsis from the city celebrated Navroz, marking their New Year, here on Wednesday. This is the second time in 2023 that the community is celebrating New Near with the first one being on March 21.

Around 500 Zoroastrians gathered at the Parsi Fire Temple in Secunderabad for the morning prayers and reassembled for a colourful celebration in the evening.

The Zoroastrian community is the oldest settled community in Hyderabad.

According to Homi Chenoy, “A Union minister was invited as a chief guest. Families gathered for the special prayers and the ‘Jashan’ ceremony, during which fruits, special sweets and traditional snacks are offered. It is all fun and frolic in the evening.”

Hoshang Garivala said, “As my family is not around this Navroz, I celebrated the day with my friends over an amazing Parsi spread.”
