Relief From Heat Wave Continues in Andhra Pradesh

 Visakhapatnam: Residents of Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra Pradesh enjoyed a second day of relief from the scorching heatwave on Tuesday. For the past week, these regions had been battling extreme heat and heat wave conditions.

A welcome drop of four degrees Celsius brought temperatures down across most of the state, with all locations recording highs below 40°C. Anantapur remained the hottest at 40.3°C, followed by Nandyal at 40°C. Visakhapatnam saw the most significant drop, recording a high of 35.4°C, which was 3.9°C lower than usual.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) at Amaravati predicts a respite from heat wave conditions for the next three to four days. However, they warn of hot, humid, and uncomfortable weather in isolated places across north coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP), Yanam, south coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP), and Rayalaseema on Wednesday, April 10.

There’s a chance of thunderstorms with lightning in isolated areas of NCAP and Yanam on Thursday, April 11. Hot and humid conditions are expected to persist in isolated parts of Rayalaseema.

The IMD forecasts thundershowers to spread to Rayalaseema over the next two days (April 12 and 13), bringing relief from the sweltering heat. This change in weather is attributed to a trough or wind discontinuity extending from north coastal Andhra Pradesh to south Tamil Nadu.
