Shooting for the stars
Sasilekha Nair is all set to represent Kerala in the Mrs India national pageant.
Representing one’s country or state in a pageant is always a proud moment. Sasilekha Nair, who resides in Bengaluru, is all set to represent Kerala in the finals of the Mrs India national pageant, organised by Deepali Phadnis at Chennai on July 30. Sasilekha, who currently runs an IT firm, is absolutely thrilled at this opportunity. The pageant had around 3,000 applicants from all around the world, from which 72 candidates have been chosen to contest for the coveted title.
Sasilekha says the entry to this pageant was quite unplanned. She happened to know about the pageant through social media and was convinced to apply after seeing the guidelines of the contest. “The show seemed to be structured with a clear vision of focusing on things like women empowerment, education, environmental issues, etc. It never had the typical flavour of a fashion pageant.
That really impressed me and I gave it a try. I applied directly to the national level and became one of the 72 finalists,” she talks about her entry into the pageant finals.
